Celebrate Giving Tuesday by, y’know, Giving!

Thanksgiving if the official kick off of the holiday season and retailers have invented event-based ways to get us to take out our wallets. There’s Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Small Business Saturday – all of which I personally support both in spirit and with my spending money. But it really is all very capitalistic… Which is why I am so happy that this year we have a new theme day of giving, #GivingTuesday!
#GivingTuesday™ is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations.

As a philanthropic web design company, Alt Creative is obviously on board with supporting #GivingTuesday. We have earmarked additional, non-project-based funds to go to each of the 6 of our preferred charities as well as a couple others that we feel need our support at this time of year (such as the Capital Area Food Bank, SafePlace, and Family Eldercare).

Sure, #GivingTuesday is a made up theme day created by a marketing firm as a campaign. But so what? What better way to cure the hangover from days of spending money on “hot deals” than to give your time or money to a worthy cause?
